Welcome to the blog for this day: Thursday 27 August 2009

Observations for today:

I have been busy cutting out covers for the house reel. I have also been charged with sending them out to everyone who’s asking for one. Kevin, who designed the whole look, is worried that his perfect work will get creased in the post and not look as good as it could. We search for good ways of packaging that are also eco friendly.

This, alone, could be a full time job. One of the reels we are sending out is going to a man in Belgium called Balthazar who runs a hunting lodge. Could there be potential business there? Hmmm… Maybe he’s just a friend of the management.

Kevin needs a whole blog to himself. As well as being a brilliant and generous designer who has piled my desk full of super obscure and interesting design books from all over the world, he is also a kite surfing champion. Last week he was competing in West Wittering, in the middle of an unbelievably hectic work schedule. He is the guy that helps make all the print stuff you see coming out of here look so good. He has competed all over the world and the stories about being blown clean out of the water and over cliffs etc are radical (or RAD as he says).

It’s his birthday tomorrow also so HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEV!!!!

Retouching still going on Derren Brown and I spent a night with the guys at Tag – Joseph and Kevin seemed to be quite used to pulling “all nighters” but it’s a new experience for me and I guess it was pretty cool. Much pizza.

There’s loads of online happening at moment too. Alice (senior Art Director) has been looking after Derren Brown The Events campaign, which ties into the telly spot that you might have seen. It’s pretty cool also. Did you spot me in the Ad? I’m one of the guys walking backwards/forwards – but you only see me for a bit. I thought I was going to end up on the cutting room floor BUT I WAS WRONG.

I’m also helping Alice out on getting some mood references together for some wicked new work for a show called the Misfits on e4. I got to read a script and it’s excellent fun and the ads should be too.

More soon from me.

Now back to my CD covers. A word of warning. When using a scalpel never let your attention slip, even for a moment. As the sign in our studio area reads – Slice Don’t Dice. It actually makes no sense if you think about it.

A bientot

P.S. Leo is designing a crossword for some reason. It looks borderline impossible.
